DIY: Monthly Photo Calendar

Following on from my previous post, I thought it was only fitting to do a simple DIY to illustrate the process I underwent to create Gareth’s gift for Valentine’s! I made it up as I went along, so I will do the same in my attempt to create ‘instructions’ he he…
#1: choose some awesome colours that go well together for the number of months you need (i.e. 12). cut them to fit the intended size of the finished calendar – i went for the long rectangular block effect…

#2: punch holes in them on the top on each page so that we can tie them together later

(you can keep the punched circles as confetti… or chuck them away)

#3: find some lovely ribbon that match the style of calendar you want and tie them up like bows – but make sure you don’t tie them t00 close to the cardboard – you need have room to be able to flip the months back

#4: and now your set to let your creative juices run free in terms of how you want to decorate the calendar. i created lean white rectangular strips for the days of the month in neat horizontal rows on the bottom of each month, leaving space to feature a photo up top!
i decided to to all the written stuff myself instead of printing it out (which clearly would have been many times faster) but i wanted that hand-made effect, so it was worth the pain!

#5: and don’t forget to mark the name of the month somewhere too! with some of the empty spaces surrounding the days of the month, i put in blocks of fancy paper to fill it out and labelled it as “notes” in the corner – that way they can use it as an area to jot down stuff too!

…and voilá! hope you enjoyed this incredibly easy, heartfelt and creative gift idea :)
ps. special kudos to Jade who planted the idea of making a calendar in the first place!
